Lines in the Barbado da Terceira

Due to the traditional breeding methods for most Barbados in the Terceira Island – most people have a couple of dogs that breed over and over, with few breeders actually selecting matings – some lines have arisen, with relatively distinct traits.

We show bellow some specimens of the original lines. Dogs are shown in different stages of clipping – some newly clipped, others never clipped, other some months after clipping.´Noawdays the distinction between lines is getting more and more blurred, due to the interbreeding among them.

*Note - "Line" is used here quite liberally, as often it was just a male and a female breeding indefinitively.

This page has many photos, so it may take a while to fully load.
